Wine & Glass pairing: Cabernet/Merlot Wine Glass
Midalidare recommends the Cabernet/Merlot Wine Glass for the following wines PGI Thracian Lowlands, Mogilovo: Midalidare Reserve, Grande Cuvee, Rock'NRolla, Grand Vintage Cabernet Franc, Nota Bene, Mogilovo Village, Midalidare Cabernet Sauvignon & Petit Verdot, Midalidare Merlot & Cabernet Franc, Carpe Diem Red, 42/25 Merlot.
The Cabernet/Merlot wine glass is perfect for full-bodied, complex red wines that are high in tannin. The generous size of this glass allows the bouquet to develop fully and smooths out the rough edges. It emphasizes the fruit, playing down the bitter qualities of the tannin, and allows wines to achieve balance.
Cabernet/Merlot glasses have an average-length stem, a wide base, and a large bowl that tapers slightly at the top. This is a glass designed to get a lot of oxygen in contact with the wine to bring out the fruit flavours and lessen the tannins. This glass is tall, though not as tall as a Bordeaux glass; some variations have a very narrow rim. It enhances the smell of the wine. Broad bowl enables wine to breathe, and the aroma is subsequently accumulated by the narrow mouth.
Cabernet/Merlot glass is perfect for the following wines and varieties (including Bulgarian grown grapes): Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Bordeaux (red), St. Emilion, Listrac, Moulis, Margaux, St. Estephe, Medoc, Graves rouge, Pauillac, St. Julien, Pomerol, Pessac Leognan (Rouge), Fronsac.
At Midalidare we had chosen Riedel glasses, exclusively represented in Bulgaria by our valuable partner The Gourmet House.
